If the LA Rams want to move on from veteran defensive back Jalen Ramsey, there is a growing market of teams that could easily be interested. Truth be told, even if the Rams have zero interest in trading Jalen Ramsey, there is no doubt that NFL general managers will place the call, measure the interest, and try to gauge just what it might take to pry the star defensive back from the LA Rams roster.
Right now, that bidding appears to be starting at a minimum of one first-round pick and one additional pick. But it could go up pretty quickly.
We toyed with the idea of the Detroit Lions fanbase falling in love with a trade scenario by which the Lions would be able to pry Ramsey from the Rams. In that trade scenario, we expect that the Rams would hold fast on getting their first-round draft pick back, which will fall as the sixth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Huge market for Jalen Ramsey right now
But what about other NFL teams? Might they have an interest in acquiring Ramsey? After all, it’s not just the Detroit Lions that have run a trade scenario out for public debate. A Las Vegas Raiders blog has a trade scenario in the public forum as well. That has prompted fans of the Pittsburgh Steelers, the LA Chargers, the Miami Dolphins, and even the Dallas Cowboys to get in on the act. There is even a Tweet by The Graphic God that lets you try to ‘guess’ where Jalen Ramsey will play next season:
And why not? Jalen Ramsey is 28 years old and is in the prime of his NFL career. And while he may have had less-than-perfect games at times in 2022, he is still capable of taking over a game.
I don’t believe that the LA Rams will trade Jalen Ramsey. But I have to admit that the mere possibility of a Rams trade has marshaled NFL fanbases, all of whom are stepping up to express interest in adding him to their team’s roster. And for a season where so many have berated the Rams’ star defensive back, one thing is clear.
That trolling dissipates immediately in the face of any chance he might be moving teams.
