RB Blake Corum

The LA Rams are not exactly proficient at running the football in 2024. The offense is ranked 26th out of 32 teams in rushing yards, But even that unimpressive ranking is higher than expected when you consider this team is only putting up 95.1 rushing yards per game. Just one year ago, the team was the 11th-ranked rushing offense, grinding out 120.3 rushing yards per game.

If this team wants to put together a winning streak, then leaning on the running game has to be step I.

The greater disappointment of this season's ineffective ground game is the offseason investment that the front office appeared to make to ensure that running the football remained a priority this season. From investing in offensive linemen, tight ends, and even the running backs, the Rams roster swelled nearly every positional group that could and would contribute to an effective rushing attack.

And yet, the team regressed so significantly this year that there may be no way to effectively resurrect rushing for a win. Featured RB Kyren Williams' propensity to cough up the football in 2024 makes the ground game even more risky. The only real option for the team right now is to entrust rookie RB Blake Corum this week.

Neither the team nor the fans know what Corum is capable of doing because he has never been given the chance to produce. He has never carried the football more than eight rushes in a game, and that only happened once in Week 2. There is no way that this young talented rookie can develop without the opportunity to do so.

Kyren Williams has fumbled the football five times this season, and lost three of those fumbles. Blake Corum has never fumbled.

The team has a nasty habit of choosing talented offensive weapons, but benching them until they have no chance of realizing their potential. I have no idea why that is. And yet, if the team is to rediscover an offense that can run the ball, rookie RB Blake Corum has to be a vital component of that effort.
