(3) - It's almost as though Karma is giving Rams a mulligan
It was heartbreaking to see Odell Beckham Jr. on the football field in Super Bowl LVI, injured and knowing that his opportunity to play for the Rams for the NFL Championship had come to an end. It was doubly disappointing because OBJ's contract was bursting with incentives. He did not hold the Rams hostage to play. He bet on himself, triggering far more value in his contract by aiding the team to win in the NFL Playoffs.
But must like Von Miller, his contractual relationship with the Rams ended at the end of Super Bowl LVI. Injured and rehabbing, he would spend all of 2022 fixing his knew, then getting into football shape, and finally auditioning for NFL teams that might need a wide receiver.
But he did not return to the Rams. Not in 2022. Not in 2023, as he signed with the Baltimore Ravens. And not in 2024, as he signed with the Miami Dolphins. But even now, there seems to be that unfinished business that remains undone from Super Bowl LVI. Is Karma creating a chance for the Rams and OBJ to get a do-over in the 2025 NFL Playoffs to finish that task?
Stranger things have happened.
The team has not hesitated to re-sign former players. Just this year, the team re-signed DE Jonah Williams, DB Darious Williams, and even extended DB John Johnson III after re-signing him in 2023. So it's not out of the question for the Rams to offer a contract to a former player. But, what's in it for the Rams? Ah, next slide please . . .
