Bold Prediction 1 - Rams win turnover battle

Surprisingly, the 4-5 LA Rams are a +2 in net turnovers so far in 2024. In many ways, that has helped to buoy the team to their 4-5 record. After all, the 22 points added by the defense so far this season has directly contributed to more than one win. The question is, can the Rams continue to win that under-the-radar battle that is often one of the key contributors of success.

Against the New England Patriots, yes.

The Rams shot themselves in the foot with two costly turnovers against the Miami Dolphins in Week 10. Not only did Stafford throw his seventh interception of the season, but RB Kyren Williams fumbled the football, his third so far this season. Perhaps the Rams could prevent that by giving Williams some relief with another runner helping handle the workload.

Still, the front office sought ball-hawking defensive backs in the secondary and so far that is what the team has gotten. The Rams 13 takeaways from the defensive side of the football falls in at 11th place in the NFL. Three takeaways have resulted in touchdowns. So not only does this defense make offenses pay for their mistakes, but makes them pay the entire bill.

The New England Patriots offense, as is often the case with a young offense, has struggled a bit with ball security. Their 12 giveaways are not bad, coming in at 16th place. But when you combine an opportunistic ball-hawking defense facing a young offense that has coughed up the football, the odds are in the Rams favor. Keep an eye on the turnover battle, as I expect it holds the key to victory.

And as always, thanks for reading.
