(2) - The 2025 NFL Draft set up for Day 2 picks

In a year in which the LA Rams have only two late Day 3 picks in their vault, the strength of the 2025 NFL Draft appears to be held in Day 2 prospects. Normally, that is not a problem. The team can either consider trading back for the chance to increase the number of picks, or simply make a selection of the best player available when the team makes its first selection with the 26th overall pick.

The thing is, the team did not hesitate to trade it's 2025 Round 2 pick last season for the right to select DT Braden Fiske. At the time, the Rams had few clues that the 2025 NFL Draft talent would be optimally found on Day 2, but that is where the draft seems to hover right now. Of course, it's impossible to truly rank where prospects compare until they exit their NFL Scouting Combine. It is only then that the true draft fever kicks in with all the commensurate hype.

One such draft source, NFL Draft Buzz, has just four wide receivers touting a Round 1 grade. Normally, that is not a problem. But the LA Rams roster seems to be in dire need of receiver talent, and the team is without a Round 2 selection. So does that force the team to pivot to another position that is in ample supply or to trade back in a draft that seems to incentivize all late Round 1 picks to explore trading back options?

The Rams will need receiver help in 2025. If not from early rounds in the draft, then the team has to be active in the 2025 NFL Free Agency market.

But that still misses the point that the Rams only Day 2 selections are projected to fall at the 90th and 100th overall selections. So the Rams first two days of the 2025 NFL Draft are expected to come at 26th, 90th, and 100th picks. That may be a sufficient number of picks to add solid value, but the gap between 26 and 90 is 64 selections, and that is a huge gap that crosses over the best value of the draft's optimal value.

Just one more further complication to consider.
