Let's regroup in 2025, okay?

(4) - WR Demarcus Robinson

You may wonder why I am lobbying for the Rams to extend veteran WR Demarcus Robinson. Robinson's catch rate has dropped substantially, he is averaging less than four targets per game, and when the team needed him to step up when both Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua were out due to injuries, he struggled mightily.

The thing about wide receiver Demarcus Robinson is, he fits this offense like a glove. He has scored seven touchdowns, second only to running back Kyren Williams. Robinson may be catching fewer passes, but he has more yards per reception and more yards per game this season. And despite their absences, both Kupp and Nacua have far more targets

Robinson is ideally suited to play as a third option in an offense that features both Nacua and Kupp. And he enjoys that role too.

The Rams need a receiver with a good nose for the end zone. Demarcus Robinson is that guy.

(3) - QB Jimmy Garoppolo

In virtually every other case, players who have made this list have done so based on what they have done for the team. But in the case of backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, it's what he allowed the Rams not to do that makes him worth extending in 2025. Let me explain.

For the first time in how many years, the team carried a competent and experienced veteran on the roster for an entire season. Garoppolo contributes every week in practice, preparing the defense for the next offense on the schedule. But he also delivers something to the fans as well.

There has been a greater calm with the Rams this season. I attribute my contentment to the knowledge that the Rams have Garoppolo warming up in the bullpen if needed. And while the time will come for the team to invest in a young quarterback to take over, I can see the team bypassing the need to draft a franchise quarterback in the 2025 NFL draft by strategically extending Garoppolo for one more season.
