Aaron Donald is finding his stride and having fun (and that's bad news for Cardinals)

Guess what? He's having a blast.

The Los Angeles Rams never expected to lure defensive tackle Aaron Donald out of his two-year retirement. But many of the supposed factors that persuaded him to come back and compete have been mirages so far.

He has yet to share the field with elite edge rusher Myles Garrett. He has not been playing for a successful team. And he has averaged a modest 37 snaps in three games. Over that span, he has six tackles, one tackle for loss, a quarterback hit, and no sacks.

Does he regret his decision?

Well, not according to Aaron Donald. He said himself that he's having fun and getting into a good groove. And a happy Aaron Donald is a very dangerous defender. He had his first sack negated by a penalty. But rather than be frustrated, Donald emerged from Week 5 more encouraged than ever:

"It (his first sack) felt good. Watching the film, looking more like myself, feeling more like myself out there. The game is starting to slow down. Feeling good. I'm having fun, getting into a good groove. I have to keep it up. I wish it would have made it, but I didn't. I have (to) try to make it this week; that's all."

And that could spell doom for Arizona Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett.

Rams fans will get their Aaron Donald breakout soon

Like a seasoned boxer, Donald has been feeling out the competition, measuring offensive linemen and quarterbacks. It's not a matter of whether Donald will get to the quarterback, but when. And when could very likely be Week 6 against the Cardinals.

Donald is not just punching his time card and putting in his eight-hour shift. It's only a matter of time before he has his breakout game. 1-4 Arizona could be the team to give him that type of performance.

On the season, Brissett has thrown for 1,110 yards, nine touchdowns, and five interceptions. But he has also been sacked 12 times, losing 69 yards in the process. That's an average of 2.4 sacks per game.

And here comes a very hungry and dangerous Donald to get some.

Donald won't be alone. He will be joined by outside linebackers Byron Young, Josaiah Stewart, and Wesley Bailey. Young leads the team with 3.5 sacks, while Stewart and Bailey have one apiece. Defensive back Kam Kinchens even has half a sack, and inside linebacker Omar Speights has already hit home twice.

Still, Donald is the one to watch in Week 6. He knows LA needs a win and is more than prepared to move the needle in that direction. Grab your popcorn, because the show is about to begin.

As always, thanks for reading.
