Aaron Donald is returning at the perfect time to help right Rams' season

Here he comes. Aaron Donald loves to challenge himself. But after his Los Angeles Rams put up a stinker in Week 1, has even the former All-Pro bitten off more than he can chew? That's unlikely. Donald never viewed unretiring as a photo opportunity or a publicity stunt.

He knows what he faces, and he is all-in.

Donald can't help an offense that scored a league-low seven points against the San Francisco 49ers. he won't be racing down the field to assist in covering punts and kickoffs. But no matter how much he plays, his teammates know that he'll be watching from the sidelines. Nobody wants to be the guy who messes up when Aaron Donald is watching.

And so, the Horns must find some way to regroup in time to turn this season around. Win or lose against the New York Giants, they'll have to somehow survive a brutal September schedule that could leave them winless after five games. Their next three: at Denver, at Philly, and home against the Bills.

Let that sink in. Hopefully the worst doesn't happen, and it shouldn't. Even injured, this roster holds too much talent. But it's a real possibility. Donald will do his part to keep the ship on its course.

Aaron Donald's debut is the jolt Rams needed

Players who have never played alongside Donald know his reputation. Unless they have no clue, they understand what a unique position they find themselves in. This is not just about winning games. Each member of this team has a chance to write a story for the NFL history books.

And it starts now.

It wasn't the money or the camaraderie that lured Donald out of retirement. It was the chance to do something no one else had done. He unretired to win a Super Bowl ring. Anything less should be viewed as a failure. At least in his eyes.

Unfortunately, LA is already 0-1 and trails the NFC West-leading Seahawks and 49ers, who both sit 2-0.

But none of that matters right now. The Horns can only win the games they play. They have 16 left to find a path to success. Donald has helped them find that path in the past. Now he'll have to do it again, whatever that looks like.

The Rams have work to do, but guess what? Nobody embodies hard work better than Aaron Donald. Let's roll.
