Bleacher Report's free agency proposal certainly gives Rams something to ponder

The Rams may need to settle for a second-tier free agent cornerback for 2025.

Bleacher Report's Alex Ballentine is at it again. He just published an article proposing NFL rosters improve with The Perfect 2026 Free-Agent Signing for Every NFL Team. And yes, he has a proposed free agent signing for the Los Angeles Rams. But how likely is it to happen?

At least he gave general manager Les Snead something to ponder.

Everyone knows LA needs to improve its pass coverage. But projecting free agency needs for 32 NFL teams is a monumental undertaking. Ballentine does give some logic behind his projections. He suggests that general manager Les Snead target Chicago Bears cornerback Nashon Wright in free agency.

"Investing in Nahshon Wright in free agency would increase the resources they (the LA Rams) devote to the position without going overboard."
Alex Ballentine

Other NFL analysts have offered suggestions to fix the secondary. Nahshon Wright is a curious suggestion, as he has just one season of starting experience. But at 6-foot-4 and 199 pounds, he is difficult not to be attracted to his potential. He was a ballhawking defensive back in 2025, picking off five passes and including a pick-six.

He only allowed 60 of 92 passes to find their target. However, he missed over 11 percent of his tackles and gave up six touchdowns. So he may be an option, but he's not the shutdown cornerback that fans demand.

Ballentine proposes safety Kam Curl to the Vikings

Of course, you win some, and you lose some. Ballentine proposes the Minnesota Vikings sign projected free agent safety Kam Curl. That may not please fans, as Curl was a hard-hitting safety who seemed to deliver well enough to warrant an extension.

Curiously, the team did extend safety Quentin Lake, even as he was recovering from a mid-season injury in 2025. That seemed to suggest that Curl would be left to find his next payday in the upcoming NFL free agency market. Ballentine sees Curl as a versatile solution to a Vikings defense seeking to upgrade its safety group.

Snead may not afford the Vikings the option, as he could make Curl an offer that he cannot refuse. Still, imminent extensions for the rookie class of 2023 are pending, including a costly extension for wide receiver Puka Nacua.

A veteran cornerback makes sense, particularly if the team seeks to stockpile rookies at the position as well. But luring Wright to the roster may require guaranteeing him the starting role. That may be something LA cannot do.

As always, thanks for reading.
