The wait may soon be over, one way or another.

When it comes to the Los Angeles Rams and their efforts to renegotiate an amenable contract with veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford, many fans are over-saturated with the onslaught of NFL rumors that fly at them like water from a fire hydrant. So far, Rams rumors have been inconsistent. While some rumors afford light at the end of the tunnel, others seem to be extending the trend of no progress and matters heading in the opposite direction.

So far, Rams fans are stuck in the middle. If the Rams' patience is wearing thin, imagine the frustration and consternation experienced by loyal fans that are stuck in the middle. Fans are stuck in the emotional tug-of-war, hoping that both sides get what they want but not having a true understanding of what that might mean for the team in 2025 and beyond.

While the Rams fans are stuck in limbo, the matter may be resolved imminently. And the source of that news is none other than Colin Cowherd. You can discount matters that Cowherd cites in his podcast, but on this occasion his delivery feels a bit different. Does he know what he is talking about? His recap of the Rams-Stafford conflict passes the litmus test of touching everything that we know right now. So what new update is worth a new article?

Per Colin Cowherd, the Rams intend to reconvene with Matthew Stafford's agent as the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine gets underway. By that point in time, Stafford and his agent should have a clear idea of his true fair market value. Armed with that information, the Rams should be able to agree to either match that amount, or simply surrender and negotiate a trade that allows Stafford to realize his full market value, albeit with a new team.

Getting the matter resolved is vital for the team's season. Unlike the matter of waiting for OLB Von Miller to weigh out his options, and opting to go elsewhere at a point in time that negated the Rams' hope of negotiating a deal with another outside linebacker, the Rams want to know for certain whether or not Stafford wants to return while the team still has a chance to extend QB Jimmy Garoppolo or sign veteran QB Aaron Rodgers.

I don't often put a lot of stock in what Colin Cowherd has to say, but this time he makes sense. The Rams want to get everything resolved, one way or another. If the Rams have indeed set a deadline of this week to sit back down and hammer out a deal, the timeline fits everything that we know so far.

If true, this could mean that the LA Rams and Matthew Stafford will either have a new contract signed, sealed, and delivered by this time next week, or will have agreed to part ways. In either case, the matter should come to a conclusion sooner rather than later. And that is what all Rams fans want.

As always, thanks for reading.
