The Los Angeles Rams desperately needed a win in Week 7. The difference between entering the Week 8 bye at 5-2 instead of 4-3 might not seem like much to fans, but for the players who flew nearly halfway around the world to face the Jacksonville Jaguars at Wembley Stadium, it means a great deal.
Veterans know the sting of losing before a long trip home. Davante Adams and Matthew Stafford made sure that wouldn’t happen across the pond on Sunday morning. After catching a trio of touchdowns — resulting in the best performance of his early Rams career — Adams heaped praise on his star quarterback, dropping an iconic postgame quote that'll have Rams fans fired up:

“That’s what killers do. They go out and kill.”
The duo didn't run roughshod over the Jaguars' defense. Stafford only passed for 182 passing yards, and Adams only put up five catches for 35 yards. But three of those passes resulted in 18 points. Those three scores helped turn a game, which the Jags' offense was statistically neck-and-neck with LA, into a lopsided victory for the Horns.

The wily 37-year-old quarterback brought his A-game for this one. The offensive line certainly did its part, not allowing a single sack the entire game. That is not to say that Jacksonville's defense was content to allow Stafford all day to throw. It dialed up blitzes on 55.9 percent of the time against him, but was unable to get to him.
Instead, the former Georgia quarterback tossed all five of his touchdown passes against the blitz.
Meanwhile, Adams hauled in five of eight passes thrown his way, marking just the second game this season that he has caught more than 50 percent of the passes thrown his way. Ironically, his 35 receiving yards are the least productive he's been this season. Fans will gladly take that if it comes with a hat-trick performance.
Much of the credit should go to head coach Sean McVay, who provided a masterclass in game strategy and manipulation. A coach can only instruct the players. Ultimately, players need to execute the game plan. Both veterans did so to perfection.
The offense didn't attempt a single field goal in this one. And kicker Joshua Karty made every extra point attempt, which is a good step in the right direction. Most importantly, the team is now 5-2 and entering a bye week. That opens the possibility of the team making personnel moves before the trade deadline.
For now, it's time to celebrate an impressive victory. Davante Adams certainly is, with his killer quarterback.
As always, thanks for reading.
