It seemed inevitable given the earlier events this offseason, but the Cooper Kupp era in Los Angeles has officially come to an end.

Last month it was revealed that the Rams were looking to trade Kupp which was soon followed by his release after a partner couldn't be found. Kupp hits a wide receiver market that is top-heavy but not particularly deep outside of Chris Godwin, so chances are he'll find work.

That job won't be with the Rams, something that was confirmed on Sunday night.

Any hope that Kupp might return ended when the Rams signed free agent Davante Adams to a two-year deal. It's an unfortunate end to an era for the team, but it's one that at least has the upside of potentially paying off in a big way.

Rams find perfect Cooper Kupp replacement in Davante Adams

It's a tough way for things to end, but the Rams are coming out of it pretty alright. Kupp was a fantastic player for LA, but Adams provides an insane upside, considering he's still in the prime of his career (albeit at the tail end) and is now being paired with a Hall of Famer in Stafford.

That's the big selling point here, as it's less about Kupp and more about how the Rams just landed a potential Super Bowl puzzle piece to an offense that was on the doorstep of the NFC Championship Game last season.

Adams is pretty unmistakably Kupp's replacement, and it's hard to not see him as an upgrade not only for the offense but for what it will mean for Puka Nacua as well.

That's going to be such a great shot in the arm for the Rams' offense, especially knowing that Sean McVay is going to be behind whatever gets cooked up.

We saw what he did with Puka and Kupp, but we haven't seen Adams with the sort of creative mastermind that McVay has proven to be. He was one of the best wide receivers in the league while Aaron Rodgers was his quarterback in Green Bay but now he gets a Hall of Famer and a guy who can draw up plays that could bring out a vintage version of the player he was.
