Imagine being a 12-year NFL veteran, at the top of your game. Imagination is not needed for veteran wide receiver Davante Adams, whose NFL career has spanned both conferences and four NFL teams. And yet, he is still as sharp as ever.
In just 11 games, he has already scored as many or more touchdowns than in all but two seasons. Better still, he's on pace to score 19 touchdowns this season.
He's caught 13 touchdown passes already. Keep in mind that veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford only threw 20 touchdowns in 16 games last season, and you can begin to connect the dots. Stafford's resurgent run for NFL MVP honors has been gifted a huge B-12 boost in the form of Davante Adams.
And Adams is having the time of his life:

You might think that the story ends there, but hit the pause for a moment. Adams is not just anybody. He's played with some outstanding NFL quarterbacks like Pittsburgh Steelers' Aaron Rodgers and former Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr. He's even been the top receiver for LA's backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, a season that ended quite poorly for both players.
Is Davante Adams saying what many fans are reading between the lines?
Davante Adams is confirming what many veterans have said
It's okay for Adams to be having the time of his life this year. Other veterans, like quarterback Baker Mayfield and current starting inside linebacker Nate Adams, have as well.
Winning is fun, and the Los Angeles Rams are rather successful at 9-2. But there is something more about this team. That secret ingredient was added to the recipe of success by none other than legendary Aaron Donald himself. His revelation for the team came down to something so very simple that it was tremendously profound.
"I can partner with anyone, just make sure they care." - Aaron Donald
Call it the team mantra. Call it a mission statement. But if you track the players added since Donald spoke those words, one thing stands out. Production has exceeded expectations. The most curious aspect of it all is the impact on the team's ability to land top-tier talent without using trades.
And there stands Davante Adams, a receiver who realistically could have upgraded any NFL team. IN 11 games, he is already at 631 yards and 12 touchdowns. He is averaging 13.1 yards per catch, once again better than all but two seasons of his career.
And it's not all on his shoulders.
In 2020, his best statistical season, Adams helped the Green Bay Packers to a phenomenal 13-3 record. But that team lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs. Success has followed Adams. But the sheer joy of playing football has not.
Some NFL players chase the bag of cash. Others chase the championship ring. But Davante Adams is taking a new approach. He is chasing happiness. Curiously, it appears that cash and championships may be chasing him now.
As always, thanks for reading.
