The Los Angeles Rams may not strike all fans with an extensive shopping list for the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft, but that doesn't make this year's selection process any easier. In many ways, the success of the 2023 and 2024 NFL Drafts has complicated the same process for this year.
CBS Sports lambasted LAÂ for its underwhelming rookie class of 2025. It's not that the team's process for drafting players is suddenly broken. It's more along the lines of the difficulty of standingout on a talent-packed roster for inexperienced rookies. Many newcomers to the Rams roster saw little to no action.
You can't impress anyone in that scenario.
It will be even more difficult for rookies to find playing time in 2026. The team has a few glaring weaknesses. And for the few opportunities that do exist, the return of veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford almost guarantees that starting roles are earmarked for free agents or promotions from within.
Still, this is a deep and talented rookie class that is about to embark on multi-day activities during the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine. So which positions should fans pay particular attention to? These six position groups are considered particularly deep and talented, and should be well worth paying attention to:
Particularly interesting positions for Rams in 2026 NFL Scouting Combine
Offensive Tackle (OT):Â
While the emergence of Warren McClendon Jr. as a very promising starting right tackle has squelched the outcry to invest picks into the offensive line, this rookie class is loaded with talent. And there are no restrictions for general manager Les Snead preventing him from helping himself to a loaded position group. Pay attention to Utah's Spencer Fano and Caleb Lomu, as well as Penn State's Drew Shelton
Wide Receiver (WR):Â
Considered one of the best and deepest rookie classes in several years, Les Snead will have no excuse for not adding to LA's offensive arsenal. Keep an eye on USC wide receiver Makai Lemon, Washington wide receiver Denzel Boston, and Arizona State phenom Jordyn Tyson.
Cornerback (CB):Â
This rookie class combines a strong mix of outside players and high-quality slot corners. Fans will be wise to keep LSU cornerback Mansoor Delanie, Tennessee cornerback Jerod McCoy, Arizona State cornerback Keith Abney II, and Indiana cornerback D'Angel Ponds on their radar.
Other deep positions include defensive tackle, linebacker, and running back. While the team may load up on talented players simply due to their abundance in this draft, the LA's needs align perfectly with these three positions. That certainly helps on draft day.
As always, thanks for reading.
