If the 2025 regular season kicked off today, the Los Angeles Rams would have a starting wide receiver trio of Davante Adams, Tutu Atwell, and Puka Nacua. It's a unit that will hopefully give defenses a tough time but the depth behind those three doesn't necessarily strike fear in anyone.
One recent addition to the Rams' wide receiver room that Ryan Fowler of The Draft Network thinks could be a sneaky weapon for Matthew Stafford and the offense is UDFA Brennan Presley, who Fowler said could work his way onto the 53-man roster.
The Oklahoma State product spent five years in Stillwater and hit a career-high in touchdowns this past year with seven. The year before saw him set a career-high in receptions (101) and receiving yards (991) while scoring six touchdowns. He averaged 70.8 yards per game and 9.8 yards per catch during that 2023 season.
Draft expert sees Rams WR long-shot making real run at roster
Behind the three aforementioned starters, the Rams have Presley, Jordan Whittington, Xavier Smith, Konata Mumpfield, Tru Edwards, Quintez Cephus, Britan Covey, Mario Williams, and Drake Stoops competing for the likely three spots remaining at the position on the roster. Whittington was a sixth-round rookie a season ago and showed some promise and Mumpfield was a seventh-round pick this year who had over 800 receiving yards with Pitt.
While Smith has largely been projected to win the last spot, if Presley balls out, there's nothing stopping him from swiping it. Smith is mostly linked to that last spot due to his return abilities on special teams and less for his receiving abilities.
The fun part of all this for Rams fans is that, outside of the starting three and Whittington, the other spots are pretty much wide open. That absolutely leaves the door open for Presley to work his way onto the 53-man roster and maybe become one of Stafford's new favorite weapons. Crazier things have happened.
