Even an NFL expert cannot believe this Rams star was snubbed by Pro Bowl

Definitely snubbed, perhaps borderline disrespect.

When it comes to the annual NFL Pro Bowl honors, you can bet that multiple LA Rams players will be snubbed, and less accomplished players on the East Coast will wiggle their way into the right to play in the 2025 Pro Bowl. While it's become so customary that nobody bats an eyelash anymore, occasionally, one or two Rams players are so accomplished that when they are omitted from Pro Bowl ranks, NFL analysts, experts, and correspondents sit up, take notice, and gasp in shock.

That is exactly the reaction of Senior NFL Writer Kevin Patra, someone who covers pro football for NFL.com, upon learning that Rams running back Kyren Williams did not make the 2025 Pro Bowl. Despite falling in third overall in rushing yards behind Philadelphia Eagles RB Saquon Barkley and Baltimore Ravens RB Derrick Henry, the voters for Pro Bowl honors felt it perfectly acceptable to give the nods to the remaining vacancies to rushers who are far less accomplished than Williams:

Let's break it down for you in terms of ranking the top NFL rushers:

  1. Saquon Barkley - 16 games - 345 runs | 2005 rushing yards | 13 TDs | 5.8 YPC
  2. Derrick Henry - 16 games - 305 runs | 1,783 rushing yards | 14 TDs | 5.8 YPC
  3. Kyren Williams - 16 games - 316 runs | 1,299 rushing yards | 14 TDs | 4.1 YPC
  4. Bijon Robinson - 16 games - 276 runs | 1,288 rushing yards | 12 TDs | 4.7 YPC
  5. Josh Jacobs - 16 games - 294 runs | 1,285 rushing yards | 14 TDs | 4.4 YPC
  6. Jahmyr Gibbs - 16 games - 227 runs | 1,273 rushing yards | 13 TDs | 5.6 YPC
  7. Jonathan Taylor - 13 games - 294 runs | 1,254 rushing yards | 10 TDs | 4.7 YPC
  8. Chubba Hubbard - 15 games - 250 runs | 1,195 rushing yards | 10 TDs | 4.8 YPC
  9. James Conner - 16 games - 296 runs | 1,094 rushing yards | 8 TDs | 4.6 YPC
  10. Aaron Jones - 16 games - 245 runs | 1,043 rushing yards | 5 TDs | 4.5 YPC
  11. Bucky Irving - 16 games - 188 runs | 1,033 rushing yards | 7 TDs | 5.5 YPC
  12. Tony Pollard - 15 games - 230 runs | 1,017 rushing yards | 5 TDs | 4.3 YPC
  13. Rico Dowdle - 15 games - 213 runs | 1,007 rushing yards | 1 TD | 4.7 YPC
  14. Najee Harris - 16 games - 251 runs | 1,007 rushing yards | 5 TDs | 4.0 YPC
  15. Joe Mixon - 13 games - 240 runs | 993 rushing yards | 11 TDs | 4.1 YPC

Names in Bold print are players named to 2025 Pro Bowl.

So how is it that the NFL rushers skipped over both LA Rams RB Kyren Williams and Atlanta Falcons RB Bijon Robinson to name Green Bay Packers RB Josh Jacobs and Detroit Lions RB Jahmyr Gibbs to the 2025 Pro Bowl? And how does the process justify digging all the way down to the 15th-ranked running back to name Houston Texans rusher Joe Mixon to the Pro Bowl, while skipping past so many more accomplished rushers?

I get the fact that the NFL Pro Bowl is an elaborate game of musical chairs, and that there will always be more worthy players than available spots for the annual Pro Bowl. But more and more often, I find more accomplished Rams players finding themselves snubbed and losing out to less accomplished players. I'd like that trend to stop. But then again, it's the controversy that keeps the annual Pro Bowl honors in the news.

As always, thanks for reading.
