Fans lambast LA Rams front office over latest Titans trade details

Oh boy, the Titans appear to have ripped off the Rams front office, big time.

It's true. The LA Rams traded top-tackler ILB Ernest Jones IV and a 2026 Round 6 pick to the Tennessee Titans for the paltry return of a 2026 Round 5 pick. That's it. The right to upgrade a Round 6 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft to a Round 5 pick in that same draft is the best that the Rams front office could do. We were appalled at that insignificant return on such a valuable defensive contributor and featured our disappointment in an article.

Other websites rebuked those sentiments, stating that the team negotiated frantically to get the best return possible. But when the reputation of the LA Rams when the team is actively motivated to part ways with a player is settling for a bag of chips and a six-pack of warm soda, that is the best offer that the team will get.

So they took it.

So imagine the shock, anger, and utter disbelief when the Tennessee Titans flipped ILB Ernest Jones IV after just six games, and got a Round 4 pick plus LB Jerome Baker from the Seattle Seahawks. At this moment, I don't know which is worst.

  • The fact that the Titans got significantly greater value from ILB Ernest Jones after just six weeks
  • Or, the fact that the Titans traded Jones to the Seattle Seahawks, ensuring that the Rams must face him twice a season.

This trade made me a bit sick to my stomach. After just six games, the Titans were easily able to embarrass the Rams by commanding so much more value for the same player. And so, thinking that I was not alone in my fury, I turned to social media.

Whether it's true that misery loves company, or the simple fact that the outrage from Rams fans was so entertaining, I cannot tell. But the comments were quite hilarious, so why not share a few:

Some fans were diplomatic over their disappointment

There was a wide range of social media commentary. Some are not appearing here due to the overly expressive tirade that dips below the language threshold we like to maintain. But some fans were quite lucid in their protests, and their diplomatic way of making their points are worth sharing:

Of course, that is a rather lengthy way of making a statement. Some say it more succinctly:

And the funny part is, this fan is not wrong.

Some fans see the humor in the Rams getting ripped off

Life is too important to be taken seriously. So laugh at every opportunity. Here is a perfect example of one Rams fan who sees the ironic humor in the situation. This fan has a perfectly healthy perspective on the matter.

And one again, he is not wrong. The Rams front office has a pattern of getting next to nothing for players.

While others are simply outraged

Of course, we cannot 'hear' the outrage by typed comments on social media. But it is a generally accepted interpretation of capital letters that the person using that form of internet communication is angry and using a loud voice to express that anger:

You can almost 'feel' the outrage behind the all-caps statement.

And then the reality sinks in

After the denial, laughter, and anger subside, the reality sinks in. One of the best young defenders from the Rams roster has just been traded to an NFC West Division rival. That not only means that that Titans got significantly more value than the Rams, but that the Rams must now face Ernest Jones twice a year.

There is no doubt in my mind that Jones will circle the dates on his calendar whenever the Seahawks face the LA Rams. Some fans are thinking the same thing:

Of course, like many things in life, this is one more matter out of our control. But it put on full display that fans sometimes are more clued in than the actions of the team might suggest. But the fans and the team must press on. You win some, you lose some. After the Titans trade of Ernest Jones to the Seahawks, this one goes in the loss column.

And fans now know it.

As always, thanks for reading.
