(3) - DL Tyler Davis
When the Rams drafted former Clemson defensive lineman Tyler Davis in Round 6 of the 2024 NFL Draft, there was a lot to love about what he might bring to the Rams' defense. Now that he is entering his second season with the team, the speculation is over. He brought solid production despite a limited role last season. Now, he is aiming for a much larger role.
Davis may not have gotten a lot of work in 2024, but when he did, he made those defensive snaps count. He platooned with Kobie Turner, Braden Fiske, and Desjuan Johnson, and played just 299 defensive snaps. Despite the light workload, he put up 29 tackles, two tackles for a loss, one quarterback hit, and 0.5 quarterback sacks. And at 6-foot-2 and 300 pounds, you can expect an even larger role for Davis in 2025.
While the Rams have replaced former nose tackles Bobby Brown III and Neville Gallimore with veteran NT Poona Ford and rookie Ty Hamilton, you can bet that the versatile Tyler Davis will see action all across the Rams defensive front this season. Davis has a sneaky good pass rush which ensure he will be a three-down lineman. While his run defense was not his strong suit in 2024, you can bet that he will return to the fray in much better shape to stuff the run this season.
How do I know that? Simple. Tyler Davis has been grinding all offseason.
While he did not get much of a spotlight in 2024, don't overlook Davis. He is a hungry, passionate football savant who is coming back to the 2025 NFL season with a vengeance. In just two postseason contests last season, he turned 56 defensive snaps into seven tackles. While a ridiculous projection, at that rate, he would end a season as a defensive lineman with 125 tackles. Those are linebacker numbers.
The key to the Rams' success is more than the stats leaders. Tyler Davis is a perfect example of how a rotational player can make a positive impact on the team. And 2025 should hold an even larger role for Davis.
