One thing about the Los Angeles Rams that I appreciate is that they typically seem to beat preseason projections. Well, since the team has hired Head Coach Sean McVay, that is. And even as the team has enjoyed unparalleled success, much of exceeding expectations lies in the fact that projections were overly skeptical.
That is not the case for the 2025 NFL season. While skepticism seems to be universal over the talent levels of individual players this offseason, projections for the team itself have been moderately optimistic. Even in what appears to be a very competitive season in the NFC West Division, the consensus appears to be forming around the San Francisco 49ers or the Los Angeles Rams as division winners, with a slight lean in the Rams' direction.
But NFL Analyst Harry Douglas from Get Up ESPN just blew the lid off Rams projections. In a bold proclamation, Douglas asserted that when the dust settles on the Rams at the end of the 2025 NFL season, they will be the number one seed in the NFC.

Okay, before reacting to this bold projection, let's take a moment to pause, ponder, and project.
A number one seeding in the NFC carries a lot of weight. For starters, it implies that the Rams will have the most successful 2025 season of any other NFC team, including such powerhouses as the Detroit Lions, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Commanders, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It also suggests that the Rams will win the NFC Western Division once more.
And it infers that the Rams will get a BYE week before competing in the NFL Playoffs. That opens up the question as to whether the team will sit starters in Week 18.
Other circumstances are the fact that, as the top seed in the NFC, the Rams will not be forced to travel in the postseason, will not play in a blizzard, and will have a home-field advantage as long as the team keeps winning.
It also suggests that the Rams will depend heavily upon the Round 1 pick from the Atlanta Falcons if the team plans to add a talented rookie quarterback in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Get Up ESPN Harry Douglas shocked the NFL with a bold proclamation about the Rams schedule success and playoff seeding after the conclusion of the 2025 season. I hope he's right. But I won't be uncorking any champagne until Week 18 is in the history books.
As always, thanks for reading
