The LA Rams are heading into a maelstrom at Lincoln Financial Field to face the Philadelphia Eagles. The Rams are coming off an impressive victory against a heavily-favored Minnesota Vikings team on Monday Night Football. But now this team must travel to the East Coast and play three time zones earlier than their Pacific Time Zone.
They must do so in a blinding snowstorm as a fair weather team.
The Rams lost in Week 12 against the Eagles, getting blown out by the power running of RB Saquon Barkley who put up 255 rushing yards and two touchdowns. That was in SoFi Stadium. But the Rams were a much younger and inexperienced team in that game. Immediately after that Week 12 loss, the Rams went on to win five consecutive games before pulling all their starters to rest before the playoffs.
There is no lack of confidence in the Eagles in this one. There is no lack of motivation for the Rams in this one. And there is the X-factor of heavy snow throughout the game. Will the Eagles be able to pass to WRs DeVonta Smith or A.J. Brown? They may be limited, as both receivers use quick pivots to create separation will be in a snow storm.
Much of the pre-game chatter on WIP radio has not been about respecting the Rams, but rather how the Eagles should win this game and how the NFC is lining up for the Eagles. In fact, radio hosts are more focused on facing rookie QB Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders. There was a repeated theme of the Eagles having no problem winning this game.
Per local radio, the Eagles weather forecast is expected to be heavy throughout the game.
While the radio disc jockeys are all about the Eagles offense, they miss the fact that the Rams abandoned the run early due to RB Kyren Williams inability to handle the football. And then there is the performance of Rams WR Puka Nacua. I look for the Rams offense to offer up another peak production is this game.
If the Rams offense shows up, this is going to be a highly competitive game.
