Is Blake Corum playing today? Full injury update for the LA Rams running back
By Bret Stuter
When the LA Rams drafted former Michigan RB Blake Corum in Round 3 of the 2024 NFL Draft, the euphoria and jubilation of his fit with this offense was so plentiful, that he was one of the stars of the NFL talk show circuit as so many NFL Insiders, analysts, and pundits were eager to hear his story. But here we are, nine games and 601 offensive snaps into the 2024 NFL season, and the rookie runner that everyone was so high on has played just 39 offensive snaps.
Corum has carried the football just 23 times for 80 yards. Hardly the production that warrants so much national interest, or a Round 3 pick. But circumstances may be changing for the offense.
We published an article citing specific reasons why the Rams must get rookie running back Blake Corum more heavily involved in the offense this week. But a quick summary is simple. The Rams are burning through featured RB Kyren Williams at a pace that will empty his tank long before the season is over. Williams has more fumbles this season than his previous two seasons, and a heavy workload will only amplify that ball security vulnerability.
While small, Corum is a might runner whose power is his forte. He gets stronger as the days get shorter and temperatures fall. And with November in full swing, the offense needs top punch back at defenses that manhandle the offense. Corum is perfectly suited as a counter-puncher rusher.
While Williams will start the game, look for Corum to get a heavier workload in the middle two quarters of the game. And you can also look for him to have a reasonable chance of finding the end zone in this game.
If you have Rams RB Blake Corum on your Fantasy Football team, this is a good week to dial him into your optional offensive skill player slot.
