It's no surprise that Cooper Kupp joins this elite group of NFL wide receivers
By Bret Stuter
The LA Rams know their history. And Rams fans know the LA Rams. So there is nothing to add to the fact that when Cooper Kupp is healthy enough to suit up and step onto a football field, good things are bound to happen. But he is not always healthy enough to do so. Over the span of his eight season career, Kupp has suited up for 96 of a possible 128 games.
But his performance when he is on the football field is never in question. He is one of the NFL's hardest-working and top-producing wide receivers today. Perhaps that is why his name appeared in so many NFL rumors as this team fell to 1-4 with the 2024 NFL Trade Deadline nearing. And it is equally the reason why this team fought so hard on TNF to squelch those rumors.
In whatever scenario lies ahead for the LA Rams, the team, and the fans, want that future to include Cooper Kupp. There is a very good reason for that. You see, LA Rams star wide receiver Cooper Kupp has 601 receptions in just 96 games. By doing so, he adds his name to a very elite and rare group of NFL wide receivers who have 600 receptions in 100 games or less:
The NFL remains a very competitive sport. That means that in order for teams to succeed, they must win one-on-ones by every player on the football field, or at least the majority of those individual competitions. The facts do not lie. Cooper Kupp wins those battles, and wins them in ways that elevate the play of his teammates as well.
I'm certain that Kupp would be the first person to downplay his achievements in favor of celelbrating the team. But it's his presence that leads younger players like Puka Nacua and Jordan Whittington to become the best version of themselves as possible.
Sometimes, it's important to simply applaud greatness for what it truly is: Great.
Cooper Kupp means more to the Rams than what he produces on the football field. And with his lofty numbers, that is saying quite a lot.
