It's not even training camp, but Coach Yarber's comments should thrill Rams fans

Coach Yarber won't praise players to build hype, so when he is impressed, fans should be thrilled.

Some fans love what the Los Angeles Rams have done with the team's receivers, while others are a bit more anxious than in previous seasons. While uncertainty is intertwined in what the team will do in terms of the passing game, one thing is quite clear. This is not a typical strategy for the Rams' aerial attack. The obvious reason is the absence of veteran WR Cooper Kupp, a fixture in the offense who always gave everything he had, as long as he was healthy.

But he is playing for the Seattle Seahawks in 2025. WR Demarcus Robinson is playing for the San Francisco 49ers this year. Even WR Tyler Johnson is donning a new uniform this season, as he will play for the New York Jets.

But sometimes stale water needs to flow again to return vitality and better quality to a stream. And the Rams' wide receiver room had grown a bit stale and unproductive of late. So, breaking the logjam of talent may prove to be a godsend strategy for an offense that desperately needs to find new ways to put points on the scoreboard. The thing is, can an offense that shed its top two scoring receivers find ways to reclaim that lost ability to put the ball into the end zone? Well, in a word: Yes

Coach Eric Yarber's comments should thrill anxious Rams fans

Of course, Rams fans cannot peer behind the tapestry to see how well players have performed so far in OTAs and minicamp, but team reporters can pry insight and information from coaches. And Rams WR Coach Eric Yarber has a lot of experience and insight as to what the team needs, and how effectively players meet those expectations.

So you can share my excitement to find that Coach Yarber is particularly pleased with the team's focus and preparedness already.

Of course, all eyes turn to FA wide receiver Davante Adams, a veteran who has already admitted to feeling young again in the Rams offense, and for good reason. He brings an expansive set of skills that are ideal fits in this offense, and that is backed up by the routes that Adams has been most successful at running:

But the greatest concern for the Rams this season is the ability to score. Well, that just happens to be an area that Adams specializes in, which fits a distinct need in what the Rams hope to do this season. But will the Rams fixate on throwing to Adams this year? While that is always a risk with a very productive player, the Rams simply have too much talent and too many options to focus on one target this season.

But don't think for a minute that Davante Adams is limited to his positive impact on the football field. He is an elite player who willingly shares and mentors younger players, a true leader who takes his role on the team as seriously as the coaches. Coach Yarber was not at a loss for praise of the Rams' new wide receiver.

"He (Davante Adams) is all that was advertised, everything I thought he was and what the coaches thought he was; he is. He has been a great leader in that room, mentoring the younger guys, being vulnerable, telling them about his struggles early on, helping them out however he can."
WR Coach Eric Yarber

We will have plenty to say about the Rams' wide receivers in 2025, and with training camp, fans will have plenty of firsthand experience seeing players as well. It's not even training camp, but Coach Yarber's comments should thrill Rams fans. The team not only added an elite wide receiver but also got a wide receiver coach and mentor as well.

As always, thanks for reading.
