The Los Angeles Rams are not done with their shopping list. In fact, despite trading for cornerback Trent McDuffie, general manager Les Snead will likely continue to address the position multiple times this offseason. And Ramblin Fan's John Sbisa was hot on the trail of a potential addition to the cornerback room in Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Montaric Brown.
Unfortunately, Brown never hit the free agency market. It seems the Jaguars reached an agreement with Brown to remain in Jacksonville as time was running out until free agency began. In the process, Los Angeles loses a potential fit to the roster before Snead ever had the chance to make an offer.
Of course, the sky is not falling in LA as a result. The team has plenty of veterans to choose from. And there is always the likelihood that general manager Les Snead may coax a player from 2025 to return to the Horns in 2026. Still, the team knows it needs to get better.
Rams may want to hold the line on salary for 2026
While the cornerback position is just one of many positions the team may address in free agency, Les Snead is unlikely to rush into anything. The team has a delicate balance of youth and experience. And Snead must navigate the narrow path of paying for new talent while earmarking dollars to extend current players.
And Los Angeles has nearly a half dozen or more players who deserve extensions.
So it may be that, as eager as fans are to see lots of instant activity from the front office, LA could sit out the big-money round that opens the free agency market, and await the second or subsequent rounds in which money is not the primary motivation for a contract.
For now, the Rams can enjoy the calm before the cornerback shopping spree storm
But don't sit too comfortably. With the arrival of the NFL's 'legal tampering' period, news about a signing can spring up instantly. And while general manager Les Snead will vet any potential new player, he has already placed the NFL on notice that he will be aggressive this offseason.
But as this article neared completion, a new development occured.
Another former Chiefs CB in LA: former KC cornerback Jaylen Watson reached agreement today on a three-year with the Los Angeles Rams, per Collin Roberts of Excel. The Rams now will have two former Chiefs CBs, Watson and Trent McDuffie. The KC Rams. pic.twitter.com/oK1HYg1kKr
