The 11-3 Los Angeles Rams know how to entertain fans. With the NFC West Division title on the line, the team packed up their team and flew to face the 11-3 Seattle Seahawks. This was a game of lead changes, momentum changes, crazy plays, and some of the NFL plays that you will never see again in your lifetime.
With a fourth touchdown, Seahawks quarterback attempted to throw a pass that bounced off Jared Verse's helmet and fell harmlessly to the end zone. But the pass was determined to be a backward lateral, which means that it was the same as a fumble. As soon as Seattle running back Zach Carbonnet picked up the football, he was ruled to complete the two-point attempt.
That was such a crazy play in such a crazy game. The play was originally thought to be a failed attempt. But the call was overturned, tying the score and eventually sending the game into overtime. And both teams began to suffer, as the physicality resulted in injuries to both teams.
Rams fighting hard to emerge with a win in Week 16
The problem with competing against a division rival is the sheer familiarity. Both teams boast great rosters, but both teams know one another far too well. This was nothing like the first game. Both offenses are scoring nearly at will.
Sam Darnold had to overcome four sacks and two interceptions to win this one. Puka Nacua put up 225 yards and two touchdowns for the Rams, but it wasn't enough.
While many fans may be disappointed with the defense in this one, the need to play on the road on a short week against one of the NFL's best offenses on a short week was a huge ask. LA was not down, just wide receiver Davante Adams in this one. The team lost right guard Kevin Dotson in the game and had to face the Seahawks without defensive back Quentin Lake.
The loss clinches a playoff spot for the Seahawks, sends the Rams to the wild card bracket, and forces the team to rebound against the 5-9 Atlanta Falcons in 10 days. There is a lot to unpack from this one. But we'll have extra time with a mini-bye to do that. For now, the Rams are still heading to the playoffs.
As always, thanks for reading.
