He is Mr. Dependable, and nobody is noticing.

He carried the football 21 times for 87 yards. But when Los Angeles Rams running back Kyren Williams got near the end zone, he scored. He was the only player on the entire Rams roster to score a touchdown. Thankfully, he liked it so much the first time that he came back for seconds. He was the most consistent offensive weapon in head coach Sean McVay's arsenal.

And he delivered over and over.

There were too many players who had a hand in the outcome to mention in the heroes and zeroes recap of the game. Perhaps NFL personality Kay Adams noticed, as she made it a point to call out the lack of love and appreciation for Kyren Williams after his divisional round heroics.

Perhaps Williams is simply so dependable that his impact has become, well, expected. As the team advances in the postseason, Williams has been a staple of the offense, the guy who always seems to find the end zone or move the chains.

And now that Los Angeles is back in the NFC Championship Game, he will be more important than ever.

The secret to Kyren Williams is balance

The LA Rams have made it no secret that Kyren Williams is an essential contributor to this offense. But when he handled the lion's share of the workload in 2024, the team and Notre Dame rusher lost effectiveness. It seems that Williams has his limits.

Splitting the work between Williams and running back Blake Corum has found the right balance. The duo combined for 404 carries, 1,998 rushing yards, and 16 touchdowns. In the postseason, they've ganged up on defenses to gain 208 rushing yards on 51 carries, plus punching it into the endzone twice.

But balance is not limited to rushes. The entire offense is at its most effective when the team is willing to get Williams and Corum involved early in the game and remain committed to running the football. When veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford put up 457 yards on the Seattle Seahawks in Week 13, the offense ran the football 37 times.

Despite only averaging 3.2 yards per carry, it was enough to keep the defense guessing.

The offenes needs Williams to show up, and he will. And if Kay Adams can notice the lack of love around the league for the ex-Notre Dame iron man, then you can bet he will come through.

As always, thanks for reading.
