While there is a great deal of speculation over who the Los Angeles Rams won't have on the roster in 2025 from NFL analysts, let's start peering ahead to who might be added to the roster. The Rams have gotten off to a rather fast start regarding how successfully the team has rebounded after a disappointing 2022 NFL season, and that all started with a better than expected rookie class from the 2023 NFL Draft. The team doubled down on that positive momentum, once more landing an insanely talented rookie class from the 2024 NFL Draft.
Now, the team must pivot from stopping offenses to scoring points. Even as the Rams are paring the cost of their offensive payroll, outright trading or releasing one veteran while giving two other veterans permission to reach out to other teams, the team needs to enhance the quality of players who do carry the team's banner in 2025.
After all is said and done, the popularity of the annual NFL Draft is buoyed by the alignment of NFL fans optimism with pure euphoria of young men realizing that a door to their dream of competing in professional football, the NFL, is finally coming to fruition. The path to the NFL is never easy, often fraught with impediments that can distract or outright hinder these young hopefuls from achieving their goals.
Along the way, they are inspired by family members, teachers, and coaches. That is why I try to give my full attention to everyone who steps up to the NFL Draft podium. They have a lot to say about the multitude of guardian angels in their lives who helped to get them there.
Of course, one of the first steps to begin that journey is meeting with NFL teams. While the Rams football team is somewhat covert at to who the team meets with prior to the upcoming NFL Draft, we have been successful in identifying some of the prospects who had met with Rams representatives in the past.
Sometimes, those meetings do translate into a selection. But the NFL Draft board has to fall a certain way flr the right prospect to be available when the Rams make their selections. Since that is not often, take heart in recognizing that the Rams may not be able to call out the names of these players, but are interested in their position at the projected draft rounds.
And who knows? If the prospect named in this list are on the board when the Rams make their selection, they could be joining the Rams roster after all:
LA Rams 2025 pre-draft meeting tracker: Meetings and projections.
Updated, March 2, 2025 10:00 am
Offense (11)
- Center - (1)
- Offensive Tackle - (1)
- Tight End - (4)
- Quarterback - (2)
- Wide Receiver - (3)
The Rams are almost certainly purposing their early draft selection to the offensive side of the football. The team has been incredibly persistent in trying to trade up for an elite tight end in both 2023 and 2024. The Rams quarterback situation is chaotic right now at best. And the Rams wide receiver room appears to be a tale of losing two-thirds of their group from the 2025 NFL season.
And then you have to factor in the uncertainty of both offensive tackle positions, and the likelihood of trading veteran IOL Jonah Jackson, and you can see that there are many opportunities for rookies to instantly contribute to the team in 2025.
Defense (5)
- Inside linebacker - (1)
- Cornerback - (2)
- Safety - (2)
While the Rams defense 'feels' like it is in good shape, the team is projected to lose multiple fireplugs from the defensive line, and struggled to find the right mix in the secondary last season. There are also multiple contributors who may not return, as their contracts have expired. While I would be surprised to see the 2025 NFL Draft focus on the defense, the team still has multiple positions in need of reinforcements.
Special Teams (0)
When the Rams hired new ST Coordinator Chase Blackburn in 2023, the team wiped the slate clean of all special team specialists. That allowed Blackburn to draft his punter, Wingate's Ethan Evans, in 2023. He followed up by signing undrafted UCF long snapper Alex Ward after the 2023 NFL Draft. Finally, he drafted Stanford kicker Joshua Karty in 2024.
By all rights, the Rams special teams are essentially satiated, with the exception of a return specialist and coverage guys. While I won't be as bold as saying never, I would be more than mildly surprised if the Rams add a special team's specialist during the 2025 NFL Draft.
