The Los Angeles Rams have stacked the deck heading into 2026. To fantasy football managers' pleasure, they're going all-in with reigning MVP quarterback Matthew Stafford, who will be 39 when Super Bowl LXI rolls around.
Everything is lined up for Stafford and the Rams' offense to be a money printer once more. Head coach Sean McVay is the best play-caller in the NFL, their offensive line is top-tier and they boast perhaps the top skill group in the league. Investing in them is wise and as close to a foolproof draft strategy as possible.
Los Angeles has some interesting offseason storylines, however, that need to be addressed one way or another. They have five tight ends who could all have roles as the club leans into heavier personnel. It's a mishmash of experienced veterans and developing young contributors: Colby Parkinson, Tyler Higbee, Davis Allen, Terrance Ferguson and Max Klare.
While it isn't so much a competition, how the backfield pie is divvied up between starter Kyren Williams and backup Blake Corum bears monitoring. There's a lot of buzz surrounding the latter, and this could evolve into a 1A-1B dynamic, at least if the McVay-led Rams had their druthers.
On a much lesser scale, the No. 3 wide receiver situation behind the star-studded duo of Puka Nacua and Davante Adams is unresolved. Can one of sixth-round rookie CJ Daniels, Jordan Whittington, Konata Mumpfield or Xavier Smith separate themselves from the rest of the pack? Does it even matter when the top two guys get funneled targets?
Training camp and the preseason will answer our questions and give us a much better idea of what to expect. So, as things get underway, we'll provide the latest updates that every fantasy manager should know regarding the Rams.
Note: This story will be updated regularly throughout the Los Angeles Rams' training camp and preseason.
Latest fantasy football updates for the Rams: News, injuries and position battles
Blake Corum and Kyren Williams look better than years prior -- 8/7
Stu Jackson of Rams.com expressed that Corum looks more explosive and agile. Corum revealed he worked with his childhood trainer, Kevin Johnson, and that offseason work is already translating onto the field. Cameron DaSilva of the RamsWire added that reports from camp say that Williams is faster and more dynamic this summer. Both tailbacks put in work, and it's showing.
C.J. Daniels continues to make a push for WR3 -- 8/4
Rodgers reported that Daniels is making a case to be this team's WR3. He catch a deep pass from Ty Simpson and also got praise from Sean McVay for his "engagement in meetings". His impact is extending beyond the football field.
Terrance Ferguson's arrow is pointing up -- 8/4
Ferguson has lined up in multiple formations, displaying some nice juice after the catch. He has also improved as a blocker, per Travis Rodgers of Locked on Rams.
Blake Corum had costly mistake -- 8/3
Per Stu Jackson of Rams.com, Corum fumbled during practice, as Josiah Stewart punched the ball out. Quentin Lake returned it for a touchdown. While Corum's vision was on display to find the crease, ball security will be an area coaches hammer him on.
C.J. daniels could challenge for Rams' WR3 -- 8/2
According to The Athletic's Nate Atkins, Daniels could push for the WR3 spot.
"Daniels has had a busy camp, easily leading the second team in catches through the first five practices of training camp."
Atkins calls the WR3 spot an "opening," right now, meaning Jordan Whittington does not have it locked down.
Kyren Williams in line for more receiving work? -- 8/2
Also per Atkins, the biggest highlight from this recent practice was a wheel route touchdown reception by Kyren Williams. Atkins notes:
"It was a glimpse at an area of Williams’ game that I think has been underutilized with the Rams, though understandably so. Williams caught 77 passes for 672 yards and four touchdowns in his final two seasons at Notre Dame, but he has yet to top 300 receiving yards in any season with the Rams."
Jordan Whittington has WR3 advantage? -- 7/30
Whittington is "leading the race" for Los Angeles' third receiver spot, according to Cameron DaSilva of the Rams Wire. While Daniels is making a push, the "experienced and versatile" option has the edge thus far.
Having Whittington, who does most of his damage from the slot, in between Nacua and Adams makes sense. Daniels projects best inside and probably offers more upside, for whatever it's worth, so keep an eye on this one.
Rams beat reporter Stu Jackson credits CJ Daniels for turning in a 'strong day' -- 7/27
Daniels managed to reel in "just about every target thrown his way" on Day 2 despite primarily working with backup passers. McVay is "excited" about the Miami product.
It's too soon to tell if Daniels can carve out a meaningful piece of the pie with so many mouths to feed. A strong early impression certainly can't hurt, though.
Blake Corum quietly stands out -- 7/26
Corum's explosiveness was touted by multiple observers on the scene at Loyola Marymount University on Day 1. The hype train continues chugging along.
Whether Corum can legitimately push for standalone value remains to be seen. Regardless, he's arguably fantasy's premier handcuff and a fringe RB3.
Rams easing Matthew Stafford into action -- 7/25
While Stafford is healthy, L.A. is exercising caution and putting him on a "modified" schedule, per ESPN's Barshop. McVay said the goal is to have the signal-caller "fresh and ready to go" for Week 1.
No more Ammortal chambers, please. If some time off here and there is what it takes to preserve Stafford and deliver another high-end QB1 campaign, then by all means.
