A week ago, the 2024 season came to an end for the LA Rams after coming up just short against the Philadelphia Eagles in the Divisional Round of the playoffs.
On Sunday, the Eagles punched their ticket to the Super Bowl after cruising to an easy 32-point win over the Washington Commanders, and it's fair to wonder if the Rams would've been able to do the same had they come up with a victory last weekend.
The Commanders did look impressive in their Divisional Round win over the Detroit Lions. But, on Sunday, Washington was clearly overmatched against a Philadelphia team that could have easily lost to Los Angeles last week.
Had they escaped their playoff matchup against the Eagles with a win, the Rams would have not only had the opportunity to face a very beatable opponent in the Commanders, but the NFC Championship would have also been hosted inside Los Angeles's SoFi Stadium.
New questions added to LA Rams 2024 season after Philadelphia Eagles beat Washington Commanders in NFC Championship
The Rams already have plenty to figure out this offseason, but watching Philadelphia get an easy win on Sunday might have slightly changed Los Angeles's approach during the next few months.
In the Divisional Round, the Rams went toe-to-toe with the team that will now represent the NFC in this season's Super Bowl. Perhaps Los Angeles doesn't need to fix as much of its roster as they might've thought before the result of Sunday's NFC Championship.
At the same time, the loss to the Eagles might have helped the Rams during the next few months as well.
If Los Angeles made it to the Super Bowl, it's possible that quarterback Matthew Stafford would have decided that was going to be his final NFL game, regardless of the outcome. But with the Rams coming up short against Philadelphia, perhaps it provided Stafford with the fuel he needed to return to the team for the 2025 season.
At the very least, the Eagles getting a blowout win on Sunday should actually make the Rams feel good about their chances when they return to the field for the 2025 campaign.
