As the Los Angeles Rams kicked off their Wild Card matchup with the Minnesota Vikings on Monday night, the offense wasted no time getting going.

Scoring on their first two drives drives, L.A. was firing on all cylinders offensively. Defensively, they were holding strong against Sam Darnold, Justin Jefferson and company as well.

Part of the Rams' offensive success came by way of tight end Tyler Higbee. The starting tight end began the game on fire, catching five passes for 58 yards on five targets. Matthew Stafford looked near-perfect right away, and Higbee was an early beneficiary of Stafford's stellar play.

That was, until Higbee left the game due to injury after notching those five receptions.

Tyler Higbee sustained a chest injury in the Rams' Wild Card game vs. the Vikings

After Higbee exited the game, it was announced he was dealing, specifically, with a chest injury. Early on in the second quarter, an official update came on Higbee's status for the rest of the game.

Higbee was announced as doubtful to return.

The loss of Higbee, for the game, would leave an enormous hole in the Rams' offense. This sounds a bit odd, considering he came into this one with only eight receptions for 66 yards on the year. But, he did miss the majority of the season due to injury, as it is.

Higbee appeared in only three regular season games before taking the field this postseason.

Higbee's backup, Colby Parkinson, is fully capable of taking over. But, Higbee looked like the Higbee of old as he began this game. That's what makes the potential loss so difficult.

Update: Sean McVay commented on Higbee's injury and revealed the tight end was in the hospital.

Following the game, McVay seemed to be positive in regards to Higbee's overall status.
