The Los Angeles Rams aren’t preparing to play in the Super Bowl, but they did do something on Monday that should excite fans. The franchise signed head coach Sean McVay and general manager Les Snead to extensions. The duo has already had plenty of success together, and now the plan is for that to continue for the foreseeable fufuture.

Following the announcement of the deals, Rams owner E. Stanley Kroenke praised McVay and Snead for “consistently delivering a product that our fans and city can be proud of,” and expressed excitement that they will continue to lead “the Los Angeles Rams for years to come.”

Rams extend Sean McVay and Les Snead

Snead has been with the team as general manager since 2012, and he helped hire McVay back in 2017. The two have had immense success since then, most notably winning Super Bowl 56. Snead’s aggressive approach as a general manager gave McVay a loaded roster, and the head coach did his part by guiding the team to the mountain top.

In McVay’s nine seasons as head coach in Los Angeles, he has an impressive 92-57 record in the regular season, and a 10-6 record in the playoffs. Additionally, the Rams have made the postseason in each of the last three years, and appear very close to reaching the height the franchise did in 2021.

After falling short in the NFC Championship this postseason, the Rams are preparing to be even better next season. However, everyone knows each NFL season is it’s own entity, so it’s not as simple as running things back. Los Angeles won’t have the same roster in 2026, and that could include a different quarterback. Matthew Stafford’s future is a complete unknown right now, and while the team would love to have him back, the veteran quarterback could be ready to hang it up.

While Rams fans await Stafford’s decision, they can find comfort in the fact that Les Snead and Sean McVay will continue to lead the franchise. They have been a productive duo the last nine seasons, and that should continue in the coming years.
