Move over, Sir Robin of Oxley. Here comes... Sir Matthew Stafford of Wembley? Don't scoff. It could happen. After all, he just set a new NFL passing record overseas for five touchdowns in one game. And he did it without star wide receiver Puka Nacua. And it impressed the local media so much that one reporter suggested the 37-year-old veteran be knighted for his efforts.

In the most hilarious and relatable way imaginable, the 17-year pro embraced his inner child with a response for the ages — and asked a question any reasonable person would want answered:

"Do I get a sword or something?"

The video interaction is a riot.

Without batting an eye, or even pausing to take in what the question entailed, Stafford was ready. It seemed that he arrived prepared to dismantle the Jacksonville Jaguars with his aerial assault. And after the game, he was ready for his well-deserved royal honors.

Few NFL players can impress foreign fans to that extent. England, like many European countries, favor soccer, which they call football. Overseas, Americans play American Football, or Gridiron. But there was no lack of appreciation. Sport fans love elite athletes of any sport. And throwing five touchdowns in a single NFL game is the new record, set by an elite NFL player.

Matthew Stafford's Week 7 performance drew unprecedented knightly praise

This was a game the Rams felt they had to win. A 5-2 team heading into a Week 8 bye is in a much better position to succeed than a team that’s 4-3. Facing a tough Jags' defense without Nacua, head coach Sean McVay turned to his starting quarterback to deliver on-field heroics one more time.

And the former Georgia Bulldog delivered:

The USA embraced Pelé (an international soccer star from Brazil) when he came to play in America. Now, the former No. 1 overall pick is returning the favor. His record-setting performance is the perfect marketing tool for future international expansion.

The five-touchdown performance officially put any lingering back issue questions to bed, leaving one pressing question left to answer: Did he get the sword or not?

As always, thanks for reading.
