Throughout training camp, Los Angeles Rams fans spent a lot of time worrying about Matthew Stafford. The veteran quarterback missed multiple weeks of practice with a back injury, and the team wasn’t being transparent about what was going on. While he has since returned to practice, and is set to start the Week 1 game, there’s still some worry from fans about how he will hold up.

Stafford, however, isn’t worried. Speaking with the media on Wednesday, the veteran quarterback had to remind everyone of his mindset that helped him be one of the toughest quarterbacks to play the game. When asked about his thoughts entering Week 1 and possibly experiencing some hits, Stafford assured everyone that the back injury won’t be on his mind at all. He said he’s going to play the game how he always plays, and whatever happens, happens.

Mathew Stafford isn’t concerned about his back entering Week 1

If Stafford is going to be on the field, it’s best that he be all in, and not thinking about an injury or trying to avoid contract. If he was, the Rams wouldn’t be getting the best version of him. Fortunately, that’s not going to be a concern, as Stafford is focused on competing.

While it’s not clear how big of an issue the back injury currently is, if at all, the veteran quarterback is no stranger to playing through injury. Throughout his career, going back to his days with the Detroit Lions, Stafford would notoriously peel himself off the ground and keep marching down the field, no matter what he was dealing with.

Hopefully, things won’t get that painful for the quarterback this season. Los Angeles would love for Stafford to be as healthy as possible, for as long as possible. If he can stay on the field, and play to his standard, the Rams have the chance to contend for a Super Bowl.
