Matthew Stafford’s Olympics response had everyone cracking up

Ever since it was announced that NFL players could take part in the Olympic's new flag football competition, there's been speculation about whether or not they'd actually take up the offer.

Some players have been more vocal about it than others. Certain guys have made it clear that they'd love to be there, while others have pointed out that the games probably fall too close to the start of the regular season for their comfort.

And while the whole point may be moot – US Flag Football already exists, with tons of rostered players who will probably end up getting their shot at Olympic glory over NFL guys coming in as a bit – it's been a popular question around OTAs this week. While talking with reporters after a recent Rams OTA session, Stafford didn't have much to say about the subject – though what he did say had the reporters cracking up.

It doesn't sound like Matt Stafford is heading to the Olympics

"You're talking about coaching, or what," he said. "Sure, I mean, nobody's going to want me to. But yeah, sure. That'd be fun. I'll coach."

At this point, I bet Rams fans would actually probably be more pumped to see Stafford coaching than playing – less chance of ruining the season before it even starts that way. His response also mirrors a bunch of other QB's initial answer – that they're going to leave the spots open for US Flag Football guys, or younger NFL QBs that aren't as worn down by a bunch of deep playoff runs under their belt. It could of been cool to see Stafford play Flag Football in the same stadium where he plays for the Rams, but I don't think too many Rams fans are actually that mad about it. Stafford certainly isn't.
