The Los Angeles Rams are competing in the NFC Championship for the third time under head coach Sean McVay. However, getting there was by no means certain. The usually laser-accurate throwing arm of veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford was uncharacteristically inaccurate against the Chicago Bears, completing just 20 of 42 passes for 258 yards, no touchdowns, and no interceptions.

Worse still was the fact that he was tossed around like a sack of potatoes, getting sacked four times for a loss of 29 yards. That type of performance won't be enough when the team faces the Seattle Seahawks defense. Somehow, the coaching staff must find a way to heat up Stafford's passing after he went cold in chilly Chicago.

It may have been a byproduct of sub-freezing temperatures on Stafford's injured throwing hand. The below-expectations may have been a result of Stafford's election to wear a diving suit to stay warm. Whatever the cause, fans can expect those contributors to be avoided against the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Championship Game.

3rd time charmed for LA Rams Sean McVay

The LA Rams are competing in their third NFC Championship contest since hiring Sean McVay as the head coach in 2017. The team overcame the New Orleans Saints in the 2019 NFC Championship Game, fueling controversy with a non-call by NFL officials. That score was 23-20. The team won its second NFC Championship Game in 2022 by denying the San Francisco 49ers by a score of 20-17.

Now, in 2026, Los Angeles must find a way to defeat the Seattle Seahawks in Seattle.

In previous contests, the home team emerged victorious. But margins of victory have been infinitesimally small. The total scores of these two teams have the Rams ahead by one point, 58-57. And now, the same two nearly equal teams must square off for the right to compete in Super Bowl LX.

While he struggled in their first contest, Stafford has completed 44 of 77 passes for 587 yards, five touchdowns, and no interceptions this season against the Seahawks. And he typically bounces back after a poor outing.

He struggled against the Chicago Bears, which could translate into playing far better in Seattle.

The Horns are road dogs against the Seahawks, but that is typical for road teams. And this one is the next-to-last game of the season for teams that advance. Los Angeles hopes to advance.

The Rams should match up well against the Seahawks, but it will come down to which team executes more effectively. For the girl-dad quarterback, he knows he must show up in this one.

As always, thanks for reading.
