We're soon going to reach the point where fans are not only sick of this topic, but nervousness and anxiousness will be unavoidable until something concrete actually happens.
For weeks now, there has been much speculation in regards to L.A. Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford and his future with the team. It has nothing to do with his future in the NFL, as the veteran wants to keep on playing.
However, it remains to be seen whether that will be in Los Angeles or not. Both sides reportedly want to make it work, but there is work to be done, financially, as Stafford is set to make $20 million less than the top of the market in 2025.
With the Rams giving Stafford's agent permission to talk with other teams just a few days ago, their intent appears only to be in figuring out what exactly he is worth in terms of salary. A trade seemed unlikely after that report surfaced.
But, as we often see in this league, things have continued to evolve. Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, a top NFL insider, reported on Monday morning that there are teams officially involved in talks for Stafford.
Matthew Stafford has interest from multiple teams in a potential trade
"The teams you’d suspect would have their hat in the ring have, indeed, thrown their hats in the ring. The New York Giants, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers, Las Vegas Raiders and others have shown interest," Breer wrote.
There are no surprise teams in the above snippet, but it's worth noting that in addition to the Giants, Browns, Steelers and Raiders that there are other unnamed teams interested as well.

If the Rams were to entertain a possible Stafford trade, the asking price seems to be a first-round pick, which might eliminate the Giants and Browns who both own picks in the top three this year. There's always the chance these teams include a first rounder in next year's draft, instead, but the Rams would obviously prefer 2025 draft capital.

It still seems ludicrous for the Rams to trade Stafford at this point. Both Stafford and the Rams still have a great relationship. But, as Peter Schrager noted, there are teams willing to pay Stafford more than the Rams are at this point.
We'll continue to monitor the situation as the NFL Combine ramps up this week and coaches and executives are having meaningful conversations with one another. For now, this saga continues rolling.
