The Los Angeles Rams have climbed from 5-12 in 2022 to identical records of 10-7 in both the 2023 and 2024 NFL seasons. Have the Rams plateaued, reaching the best this roster can hope to achieve, only to begin the slow slide out of the postseason picture? Or is this team leading the pack, and merely fueling up in a pitstop to make a run for the checkered flag?

NFL Spin Zone Lou Scataglia sees the Rams as still climbing. And if you haven't checked out his NFC Conference Playoff Teams projections for 2025, you are missing out on a treat. You see, Scataglia has been an occasional contributor for Ramblin Fan, so he is more than a casual NFL analyst who checks box scores and writes stories from the stats page alone.

But before we dive into his 2025 NFL Playoff projections for the NFC, let's take a moment to highlight who he does NOT see returning to postseason competition. He does not see the Minnesota VIkings or the Tampa Bay Buccaneers returning to the NFL Playoffs. He projects two teams from the NFC East, NFC North, and NFC West to make the playoffs. He only has one team projected to make the NFL Playoffs from the NFC South Division.

You'd better sit down for this one. He projects the Atlanta Falcons as the NFC South Division winner. Why the dramatics? Rams fans are rooting against the Falcons in 2025. The worse the Falcons do, the more valuable their Round 1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. And as it now stands, the Rams are almost certainly aiming to draft a worthy rookie QB to take the baton from starting veteran QB Matthew Stafford.

Where do the Rams fall?

Per Scataglia's projections, the Los Angeles Rams end up as the third seed in the NFC. That is consistent with many 2025 projections, as it means the Rams' final record will end up at 11-5 or better. Of course, Rams fans may believe that the team can win even more games, and you are fine for doing so. But an 11- or 12-win season will almost certainly put the Rams firmly in the postseason competition.

Curiously, if his entire projection holds, the Rams will host the Green Bay Packers in Round 1 of the 2026 NFL Playoffs. The Packers lose out to the Detroit Lions in this 2025 projection. Is that a sound projection? That's where I get a bit dubious. The Lions have lost both DC Aaron Glenn and OC Ben Johnson. While the players may remain the same, the entire team will be learning new strategies on both sides of the football. I can't see the Lions holding off other elite NFL teams in 2025 while trying to get their arms around entirely new playbooks.

The other NFC West Division team Scataglia projects into the NFL Playoffs is the Arizona Cardinals. I see no obvious flaws in that projection, as the Cardinals were close in 2024 and have invested heavily in their defensive line. While I don't think they overtake the Rams, I do believe they will cause fits for both the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks.

It's early to be putting any money on NFL Playoff teams just yet. But Lou Scatablia's NFC playoff team projections are certainly intriguing. And it's that time of year to untie speculation and optimism. So why not give it a read to see what you think.

As always, thanks for reading.
