Round 3 - Defensive reinforcements

TRADE: LA Rams trade 83rd overall pick to Baltimore Ravens for 95th and 132nd overall picks and veteran CB Daryl Worley. The LA Rams do not like to have huge gaps in their available draft picks, and the gap from the 84th overall pick until the 157th overall pick, 73 player selections, is simply too great of a span to wait. And so, much like in 2023, the LA Rams are willing to trade back in Round 3 in 2024 to add a pick in Round 4.

As an added bonus, the Rams pick up a backup defensive back from the Baltimore Ravens in Daryl Worley. Worley is a versatile defensive back who will be competing in his ninth NFL season. While a limited starter in recent years, Worley was selected by the Carolina Panthers with the 77th overall pick in Round 3 of the 2016 NFL Draft. Standing 6-foot-1 and weighing a burley 210 pounds, Worley is a seasoned veteran who has experience in playing in the secondaries of six different NFL defenses.

Historically, Worley allows approximately just 55 percent of passes targeting his receiver to find their mark. He may not be a starter for the Rams, but he will ensure that any young defensive back who does start will need to posses a huge command of the Rams defense.

Worley is a solid veteran defensive back who the Panthers selected with the 77th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. While he has only seen limited playing time, he makes sense to be viewed by the LA Rams for a more significant role in the LA Rams secondary. Of course, his contract with the Ravens expires at the end of 2023, so the Ravens will need to re-sign him, most likely for a minimum amount on a one-year deal. Worley would be a nice pickup here as long as that hurdle is overcome.

Best of all, the LA Rams add two more 2024 NFL Draft picks in Rounds that are currently not covered.
