While the LA Rams finished far better than expected in 2023, the team did fall short of its potential last year. Whether it was the pedestrian 3-6 start to the season or the multiple cracks in the armor that never seemed to be repaired, the team ended last year knowing that advancing in the NFL Playoffs means finding ways to improve for the 2024 NFL season.

And that is not as easy as it sounds.

In the efforts to get better, all 32 NFL teams must embrace change. After all, for the NFL, change is inevitable. Teams lose players and coaches each year, and must adapt to those circumstances by finding and backfilling vacancies on the coaching staff and on the roster with new personnel. Sometimes those changes can propel the team into the NFL Playoffs unexpectedly, as was the case in 2023.

Sometimes those changes can leave the team paying for football production that never seems to show up, as was the case in 2022.

Rams rolled with the changes in 2023

Change by itself is never good or bad. Rather, it's something that teams must plan for. The team seemed to be very much on top of the situation in 2023, perhaps even leveraging the inevitable forces of change, to accelerate and even redirect the team's evolution from a pass-centric offense towards infusing a bit of bully-ball.

That is, rather than simply trying to outflank and outthink opponents, the offense began to outmuscle defenses by running the football right at them. When turning to the passing game, the Rams success with rookie WR Puka Nacua was no accident. The offense wanted to deploy a physical tough-minded receiver, and Nacua fit the spec sheet to a tee.

In 2024, the Rams seemed to be continuing the work of 2023. The front office invested heavily into the offensive line, the running backs, and even into the backup quarterback position. Without witnessing the 2024 offensive playbook, the team appears committed to a more physical rushing offense.

Other changes in the team are afoot as well. Let's take a look at three areas that fans can expect marked improvement from last season:
