Coach McVay is already impressed
While you know that Rams Head Coach Sean McVay is never truly at a loss for words, he is particularly verbose with excitement this season. Perhaps he is already envisioning what this group of players might be capable of. Or it could be the electricity of so much youthful energy and passion for the game.
Whatever else it might be, he has already indicated that much of his excitement that comes from the defensive side of the football is the fact that he 'feels,' the presence of former Florida State Seminoles rookie dcfenders: Outside linebacker Jared Verse and defensive lineman Braden Fiske. And by using that phrasing as an offensive oriented coach, he is paying them both a great compliment, indeed.
Jared Verse and Braden Fiske are incredibly complimentary players whose skillsets overlap just enough to allow both players to flourish in all responsibilities at the NFL level. But each exels in areas that the other does not. For Braden Fiske, his unique gifts include speed and agility. He moves so quicky on the line of scrimmage that he can avoid getting tied up and manhandled.
But Jared Verse is a power-packed edge rusher whose best moves include manhandling offensive linemen. He is the bull in a bull rush move, a guy who locks horns and drives his blocker back into the quarterback
Combined, you have the effect of the hammer and the anvil. the swift powerful stokes of the blacksmith's hammer driving against the raw power and defiant form of the anvil.
