3 free agents that the Rams need to circle back to after NFL Draft
By Bret Stuter
Are we there yet? The LA Rams still have time to reinforce their roster with a veteran or two as the team builds momentum for the 2024 NFL season. But before we do, let's be very clear. The team is loaded with talent, and having reinforced the roster after the 2024 NFL Draft, this team should be capable of winning 12+ games this season.
Perhaps more.
The season remains dependant upon players remaining healthy. Even with the infusion of so many promising passionate rookies, there is no substitution for experience. The team that would finish the 2023 season with a 7-1 run would struggle in the first half of the season to a 3-6 record. The difference? Experience.
How can the team escape that Catch-22? That is, how can the team survive the need to build experience in order to win consistently, while winning consistently to build the right kind of experience? That is a tough quandary, and one the team wished it had the answer to at the beginning of the 2023 NFL season.
One of the ways to avoid the inconsistent performance and outcomes of football games is to ensure that there are key veterans spread throughout the roster to ensure that the team not only has adequate depth, but also has the calming consistency of seasoned leaders who can take control of momentum-changing moments mid-game and calm everyone down.
This season's roster has done a much better job of that. Such areas that have run a bit on the youthful side like backup quarterback, secondary, and even interspersed along the offensive line, have been seasoned with an infusion of battled-tested football veterans who know how to hunker down and weather the emotional storm.
The team is still a bit needy in terms of veteran depth at some positions even now. Can the Rams fix that before the season? If key players remain healthy, then no harm, no foul. If only Murphy's law worked that way. To avoid the chaos of disaster, here are 3 free agents that the Rams need to circle back to after the NFL Draft
