3 Los Angeles Rams games in the 2024 NFL Season that need to be in primetime
The Los Angeles Rams are fun again and are in a great position to build on their 2023 season. Could these three matchups in 2024 end up being on primetime? The LA Rams should have close to the maximum amount of primetime games in 2024. Their 2023 season perhaps came as a bit of a shock to many.
They won 10 games and lost their first playoff game by only a point. With an improved roster and their 2023 rookie class a year older, the upcoming season could be a huge one for LA. The Rams have won the Super Bowl recently, so this is a serious, contending team. They'll surely be put in the spotlight a few times this upcoming season, and these three games need to be in primetime.
3 Los Angeles Rams games in the 2024 NFL Season that need to be in primetime
Game 3: Los Angeles Rams @ Detroit Lions
An extremely obvious candidate to be put on primetime, it'd be another homecoming game for Matthew Stafford. The Los Angeles Rams and Detroit Lions met in the NFC Wild Card game in 2024, with the Lions edging out the Rams by one point. With both teams being better for 2024, this game would not only be in a playoff environment but could be another sneak peek at a playoff matchup for this coming season.
I truly believe both teams can win the Super Bowl this year, and heck, this would be a wickedly entertaining NFC Championship Game. Stafford was in Detroit for over a decade and was really one of the only players that kept that franchise relevant. In 2021, Matthew Stafford clearly had enough of all the losing and wanted to head to LA with Sean McVay. The rest is history.
Game 2: Los Angeles Rams vs. San Francisco 49ers - Put at least 1 in primetime
One of these divisional matchups need to be in primetime. In a battle of the second and third-best head coaches in the NFL, Kyle Shanahan and Sean McVay are wizards in their own right and always bring their team's best when the two matchup. Shanahan does sport the better head-to-head record, but McVay has the Super Bowl ring.
The LA Ram and San Francisco 49ers are two teams in different spots; the Rams have an aging QB but a roster filled with top-tier young talent, while the Niners have a very young, up and coming QB with many veteran pieces scattered throughout. Both teams have made it to the Super Bowl at least once since the 2021 NFL Season, and you have to figure that the Niners are going to win one with Kyle Shanahan has the head coach at some point.
Game 1: Los Angeles Rams vs. Buffalo Bills
To open up the 2022 NFL Season, the Buffalo Bills traveled to SoFI to face the defending Super Bowl Champions, and the Rams proceeded to get blown out. The 2022 season was a huge year for Buffalo, at least on the expectations side of things. But that year, like every other season in the Josh Allen-Sean McDermott era, ended in disappointment.
The two teams meet again at SoFi, and the circumstances are a bit different. The Bills are certainly weaker now than they were in 2022, but with a solid roster overall, Buffalo should still be viable in 2023. Josh Allen is turnover machine, and with the Rams now sporting a savvy, veteran secondary, intercepting Allen should come pretty easily.
Both the Rams and the Bills surely have Super Bowl expectations in 2024, and if this game is late in the season, the stakes could be that much higher.
