3 players LA Rams will regret leaving off the 53-man roster in 2024

(2) - RB Boston Scott
The LA Rams were pretty quick to dismiss veteran RB Boston Scott. And if you replay his performances from the Rams preseason games, you will see signs that Scott was not quite the capable blocker at picking up blitzes that you know the team expected. And so, that may have sealed his fate.
Still, there was far more to love about RB Boston Scott than his pass blocking. He was the fifth-ranked rusher in the NFL in preseason, posting 36 carries and 157 rushing yards for an average of 4.36 yards per carry. And when he ran the football, he seemed to have the elusiveness that you would expect from a veteran, as he optimized his blockers, staying in their protective shadow until a rushing lane opened, and then kicking in the afterburners to race to daylight.
The thing is, the team held running backs Kyren Williams, Blake Corum, and Ronnie Rivers out of participating in preseason games. So the writing was on the wall before either RB Zach Evans or Boston Scott even had a chance to carry the football in any preseason games. But the thing abouit the Rams' current complement of rushers is that they are very similar. That is great for substitutions, but if the team wants to improve their red zone performance, it's going to be difficult.
Boston Scott is an NFL equivalent of Mighty Mouse. In 302 rushes, he had 16 rushing touchdowns and 1295 yards. That is a scoring rate of 5.3 percent, a phenomenal success rate. For comparison purposes, RB Kyren Williams scoring rate is 4.5 percent. Neither Blake Corum nor Ronnie Rivers has scored a touchdown yet.
I think sometimes decision-makers lose sight of the forest for the trees. Boston Scott is tremendously effective at finding the end zone. He signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers practice squad. Now the question is, how quickly will he score for the Steelers?
