Now that the NFL Draft has come and gone, the Rams find themselves at an interesting moment in the offseason. For the next several weeks, roster evaluation takes center stage as the team goes through all of their different offseason workouts. With ten rookies heading to Woodland Hills in the next few weeks, GM Les Snead and the rest of the Rams' front office faces more than a couple tough decisions regarding the futures of certain vets.
When taking a look at the Rams' entire 2024 draft class, LA's strategy looks pretty clear. Of their first five picks, the Rams selected three defensive linemen: edge rushers Jared Verse and Brennan Jackson along with defensive tackle Braden Fiske. They also took Clemson defensive tackle Tyler Davis in the sixth round – turns out, it takes four guys to replace Aaron Donald. (And to be honest, it probably takes more.)
Especially on the defensive line, there are probably too many cooks in the kitchen. Somewhere between now and Week 1's game, there are going to be dozens of cuts all across the depth chart, some of which will be more surprising than others. It's going to take a while to sort through it all – most of those decisions don't happen until well into training camp – but it's never (never!) too early to try and predict what's going to happen. And with offseason workouts looming on the horizon, fans will soon get their first chance to see what the "new and improved" Rams' front seven can do. (Kinda, at least.) As things stand right now, these are the three Rams who are on the hot seat following the NFL Draft.
