I - One of the team's cornerbacks won't make the roster.

With the addition of both Darious Williams and Tre'Davious White, plus the return of Cobie Durant, the Rams cornerbacks appear to be set for 2024. As such, I expect that the team will draft at least one cornerback by Round 3 of the 2024 NFL Draft.

If that happens, one of the teams remaining cornerbacks: Tre Tomlinson or Derion Kendrick, will not make the initial 53-man roster for 2024. The problem is, I cannot tell you right now who that unfortunate cornerback will be. And until we see how the team addresses the secondary, I won't be able to.

Of the two players, Derion Kendrick is the more experienced player. He has appear in 32 games for this team, and started 18 games. He has one interception and broken up 10 passes in 1,341 defensive snaps. But he has a frustrating habit of committing poorly time penalties that has hurt the team frequently. And while he flashes some solid pass coverage. he does get beaten as well, giving up five touchdown passes. Worst of all, he missed over 18 percent of his tackled in 2023.

Tre Tomlinson is a more natural slot corner, but he has limited experience. In 45 defensive snaps, he allowed five of six passes to find their target, and one was good for a touchdown. But will Tomlinson improve under the tutelage of veteran Darious Willams? Or will Kendrick see the light and be less penalty-prone in 2024?

One will get a reprieve, while one is unlikely to make the final roster cuts. That is especially true if the team jumps into reinforcing the secondary on day one or two of the 2024 NFL Draft. But either way, one of the Rams defensive backs will be on the bubble. I'll let you decide which one for now.
