II: Lions have not been here in the past 30 years
The Detroit Lions and the Lions fans have not had the opportunity to host an NFL Playoff game for over 30 years. While the fact that this game will be played at Ford Field does add a bit of showmanship and pageantry to the event, the scenario will be a brand-new experience for all Detroit Lions players and coaches.
And rightfully so, as they simply have never been here before. When former Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford was asked to describe just how loud Ford Field can become, he thought back to a Monday Night Football game that he played there with the Detroit Lions to host the visiting Chicago Bears.
While the house was rocking, that was a far cry from the emotions and electricity that will be filling the stands of Ford Field this Sunday night. There is no comparison between an NFL stadium during the NFL Playoffs, and the fans will be right there with the team in terms of bringing their A-game.
But emotions run in peaks and valleys. And the LA Rams, a veteran team that had to win a Divisional Round in the 2022 NFL Playoffs against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the road to advance are rather experienced in that hostile environment. Yes, emotions will run high in this game. But I for one trust the Rams veteran leadership to keep the team focused on the task at hand.
With Matthew Stafford under center, this Rams team will have an opportunity to come back from any deficit. But if the Rams get a solid lead in this one? I think that the Rams running game and defense are good enough to sea the win.
