The Los Angeles Rams pulled off one of the bigger upsets in the NFL in Week 1, taking down the Seattle Seahawks in convincing fashion.

Now, they have to take a step up in competition when they host the San Francisco 49ers in Week 2, who are coming off a dominant victory of their own, beating the Pittsburgh Steelers by a score of 30-7.

49ers vs. Rams key players to watch

San Francisco 49ers

Christian McCaffrey: There's no doubt that CMC is the MVP of this team. He carried the 49ers on his back their way to a destruction of the Steelers. He ran for 152 yards and a touchdown while adding on three receptions for 17 yards. San Francisco will go as far as McCaffrey will take it.

Los Angeles Rams

Puka Nacua: While everyone else was focused on the other rookies this year, like Bryce Young and Anthony Richardson, the 5th Round selection from BYU decided to have the best performance of the week. He hauled in 10-of-15 targets for 119 yards. It's only been one week, but he's already doing a more than acceptable job filling in for the injured Cooper Kupp. His odds to win Offensive Rookie of the Year have already shifted from 125/1 to 21/1.

49ers vs. Rams prediction and pick

I bet on the Rams to win outright last week as +200 underdogs. While I'm not going to make quite as bold of a call again in Week 2, I am going to back them to cover the 8-point spread as home 'dogs.

I'm much higher on the Rams than most people are. Matthew Stafford reminded everyone last week that he's one of the better quarterbacks in the league, especially now that he's healthy. They also have some solid players on the defensive side of the football, which we should have all expected to continue. This team did just win the Super Bowl two seasons ago.

The 49ers opening week was impressive, but it's important not to overreact too much to that performance. I think Stafford and company can keep this game closer than people expect.
