III: Get those rookie QBs from Weeks 3 to 8

The Rams will face three rookie quarterbacks in 2024. They will face the Chicago Bears and rookie QB Caleb Williams, the New England Patriots and QB rookie QB Drake Maye, and the Minnesota Vikings and rookie QB J.J. McCarthy. The trick with rookie quarterbacks is facing them before they get acclimated to competing in the NFL, but after you can get enough video footage on him to know what he can and cannot do.

That sweet spot falls between Weeks 3 through 8.

The defense will be new in 2024. Beyond the host of new starters slated to play in 2024 (as many as seven) who will need time to settle in, this defense has a new defensive coordinator. DC Chris Shula has every reason to succeed this year, but any new defensive coordinator needs time to acclimate to who works in which situation. Figuring that out takes time.

This is also the first time since 2014 that the team will start a season without All-Pro veteran defensive lineman Aaron Donald lining up on the defensive line. That will create new wrinkles for a defense that has a destination for this season, but is still planning the route to get there.

After the first couple of weeks, the defense should be on its way to purring like a high performance engine.
