(5) - Rams RBs will combine for 220+ combined yards in Week 1

Who will be the hero out of the Rams backfield? This team certainly has some options, with the roster boasting four running backs on the roster heading into Week 1. Hopefully, the Rams eyes at adding offensive weapons aligns with the game plans for the first few games. After all, we know that the team has added weapons that never seem to make their way onto the football field.

But the opportunity to get both running back Kyren Williams and Blake Corum involved in the offense in Week 1 is simply too ideal. After all, Blake Corum is returning to his former starte, having flourished as the star rusher for the University of Michigan. So the team has an extra bit of incentive to get him involved in this one.

In the NFL Playoffs, RB Kyren Williams rushed 13 times for 61 yards, plus hauled in one pass thrown his way for nine yards. But to be fair, the Rams fell behind quickly, twice trailing by 11 points in the first half. That forced the offense to play catch-up, and open up the passing game.

Even if the Rams fall behind early in this one, I am simply not convinced that the offense will abandon the run. The team has invested too heavily in running backs, tight ends and physical offensive linemen to simply shelve it all at the instant that the opposing team score.

The Rams will try to rest their own defense while taking some starch out of the Lion's pass rush. I expect the Rams to split at least 24 carries between Williams and Corum in this opener. And I would be very surprised if running backs were not targeted at least eight times in the passing game.

220 combined yards seems like a lot of yardage against the Detroit Lions defense. But this will likely be a high scoring game. And if that happens, the Rams will need all of them to win.
