(3) - Can Stetson Bennett prove QB2 worthy in Weeks 1-2?

The furor over young QB Stetson Bennett's performance in Game 1 seems both unwarranted and a bit over-the-top. After all, the guy had not thrown a football in game-like conditions for nearly a year. While his four interceptions were clearly mental mistakes, must we allow those coachabe mistakes overshadow the fact that the guy threw 24 of 38 for 224 yards and a touchdown as well?

The toughest part of coaching any quarterback is not about avoiding mistakes. A guy who never throws a pass never throws an interception. The trick is to coax that quarterback to taking chances. let 'er fly, throw the football. After the courage to throw the football successfully in traffic is checked off, then the punch list can pivot to better decision making.

There is a lot of pressure on Stetson Bennett for Game 2. Too much pressure? I don't know. But I do know that having watched plenty of video footage from his Georgia days that he is at his most dangerous when the pressure mounts and his back is to the wall.

If the Rams play Jordan Whittington in Game 2, Stetson Bennett will have a great game. If Whittington is pulled from the offense and sits in Game 2, I believe that Bennett can still surprise some folks. I loved that the team stuck with Bennett in Game 1, allowing him to turn the corner and pull a victory out in the end despite struggling with turnovers all afternoon.

That turnaround carries over to this game.
